SC COMMUNITY ACTION
SUICIDE PREVENTION, AWARENESS, SUPPORT AND TRAINING
SC Community Action was founded in 2015 due to the high number of suicides our communities are dealing with.
In that year alone, our local high school lost three students to suicide. According to the DOH, in 2014 suicide was the number two killer of ages 14-34 in Washington State, and the third leading cause of death for ages 35-44.
OUR MISSION
We are dedicated to saving lives through suicide prevention & awareness programs.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS & GOALS
SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) training coordinated for members of our community. SafeTALK teaches people how to become alert to someone who may be at risk to suicide and you learn practical skills on what you can do to help prevent it.
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). Coordinated training for an array of members in our community such as law enforcement, first responders, chaplains, mental and healthcare professionals, and other members of our community to become certified in suicide intervention. This is a two-day course and has proven to be successful for those trained.
